Girl Meets Country: A Style Editorial

Sometimes it's just about getting up and going and doing it
With work With life With travel
So that's exactly what we did
Picked a place Packed a bag
Grabbed a bottle of wine and headed out to the country
And it was beautiful...

Many people wait for the right time
Or when they have time there is no money
Or when there is money there is no time
I believe in making time as much as I believe in making money
If I'm willing to take on an additional consultancy project and make a little extra money
Well then I better be prepared to make a little time to enjoy life
And that's what we've been doing
Enjoying life

Polka dot blouse by Country Road - similar here and here (and this is on my to buy list)
Skinny jeans by Jeanswest - similar here and here
I recently bought a pair of jeans from ASOS and I must say, I was very impressed
Ballet Flats by Salvatore Ferragamo here - similar here and here
Hat by Seed (children's collection) - similar here and here

Location: Rosebud Cottage, Cook - Canberra, Australia

I love this! This year, as you know I'm all about adventures, I'm about going to work so that I can earn money and love a full life!

I like the place, reminds me on the book "The Haunted School" by Carol Drinkwater.

Look at that Aussie outback shed, what an icon!
I love this tale, the present is the best time to get outside and check out our surrounds. If we wait for the weather or an invitation the day will pass and the opportunity is gone forever! Last minute plans are always the most fun, especially when your exploring your own neighborhood :)

Absolutely brilliant Vanisha! I'm so glad that you are making time to enjoy yourself and what you say is so true. Waiting for the 'right time' is like waiting for planets to align! Your photo's are gorgeous!

I love that you went to the country in your 'Country Road' shirt :) You are really about sometimes just needing to get up and do it! I always have fun once I am. I'm glad you're off to a good start this year, my dear!

I love this philosophy.

And I have a pair of red ballet flats very similar to yours!

V how fabulously happy and relaxed do you look here! That makes me so happy and excited for you. I know you've wanted to bring your country home to the city so this escape is perfect for you.
I said this year I was going to say yes to life more. I have to live. I can't just sit at home writing and watching old films. And Jason and I are working out a monthly budget. I am so over living like a undergrad. I have to get this all planned and worked out. Hopefully I will be able to score a fellowship this fall or next spring and have my tuition paid for so we can save more money.

Okay, first of all I love the photo where you pet that cute sheep. ;) And second, I agree with what you said about making time as well as making money. No matter what we do in life (or don't do) there always has to be a moment or two that allows us to enjoy life - even if it's just with little things.

I love this, Vanisha! My husband get so caught up in working hard we forget to play hard as well. It's so important to have that balance and enjoying the fruits of your labor every now and again. Thanks, lady, I definitely needed this reminder. Loving your outfit as well :)!!!

I love that hat! I've been looking for a good little sun hat just like that one! And by looking I mean, one to fall into my lap. so far one hasn't fallen into my lap!

Absolutely agree with you. Sometimes you have to just go do whatever it is you want, because if you wait for the right time, that time might never come! Love your shirt btw. :)

Sometimes you totally just got to get up and go, otherwise you never get out there. Loving your look - the red ferragamos are GORGEOUS!

Oh and hey you asked if I would be going back to Canberra soon - unlikely as it's quite pricey to get there from Wellington. My little sister is moving to Florida on an exchange through the year and since my dad will come over here at some point (or so I assume), it doesn't make sense to wth all the other things I have planned! Next time I am in Canberra we should meet up though :)

Anyway, hope you are having a lovely break x

Can i just say that i still haven't found a hat that fits my head? I think i need to buy shares in a hat company so that one can be custom made for me

I certainly need to take more time out to relax and enjoy life :)

Your words really speak to me. My husband and I have always had a three yer plan. Included in that was to save a substantial amount of money in addition to paying off our debt (except for our mortgage), then have children. In December, we wanted a trip to look forward to, but knew that it would go against our three year plan. That's when we decided to stop putting our life on hold now, we need to live more in the present. It's actually alleviated a lot of stress, and made our relationship stronger.

What a great perspective to remind ourselves, if we're taking more on, we take more for ourselves too. I find it too easy to just pile on the list and end up run down, and then declare I'm doing nothing, to just take a break. But really I just need more balance. I love these photos and what a great way to share your fashions, always so put together, I love your wardrobe!
